Ceiling fans run for many hours a day in most Indian homes, so they quietly add a lot to your electricity bill. Switching to BLDC (brushless DC) fans is one of the easiest ways to cut it.
How we chose
We compared power use, air delivery, remote features, build quality and each brand’s service network.
What to look for
- BLDC motor: the key feature. It uses about half the power of an ordinary fan.
- Power at top speed: lower is better. Check the wattage on the box.
- Remote and modes: sleep timers and boost modes are handy, and the remote saves fitting a regulator.
- Sweep: 1200 mm for most rooms.
- Warranty and service: BLDC fans have electronics inside, so a good warranty and local service matter.
Running an AC too? A BLDC fan on low spreads the cool air faster, so you can set the AC warmer. See our best ACs.

پرسشهای متداول
How much electricity does a BLDC fan save?
An ordinary induction ceiling fan uses around 70 to 75 W at full speed. A BLDC fan uses roughly 28 to 35 W, so you save about half. With several fans running many hours a day, the extra cost usually pays back within one or two summers.
Do BLDC fans work on inverter backup?
Yes, and that is one of their biggest advantages: because they draw so little power, your inverter battery lasts much longer during power cuts.
What sweep size do I need?
1200 mm (48 inch) suits most bedrooms and living rooms up to about 150 sq ft. For bigger halls, use a 1400 mm fan or two fans.
